Since joining the business in early 2008, the most frequent comment I heard was, ‘Great Australian brand, but where can I see the range?’ Talk about frustrating! While the brand clearly resonated with Australians across a broad spectrum of cities and towns, much of our apparel range was simply not available outside the major metropolitan cities.
Through our longstanding relationship with David Jones, metropolitan shoppers have been able to see the range in all David Jones stores, with the largest ranges in the major CBD stores. The challenge for all of us at Driza-Bone was to take the brand and make it accessible to more of Australia in a way it once was years ago.
Earlier this year Myer took up this challenge, launching the Driza-Bone men’s apparel range in a number of regional and outer suburban stores. Now major regional centres such as Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Albury and Wagga will have access to a full range of rugged men’s shirts, knits, pants and outerwear. Tasmanian customers will find a full apparel range in both Launceston and Hobart. And shoppers in the suburban fringes of Sydney and Brisbane can purchase the brand in Penrith, Logan and Maroochydore.
This new drive for accessibility complements our existing relationships with specialty retailers in the equestrian, outdoor and rural services sectors who stock the authentic Driza-Bone oilskin coats, jackets and vests. It is another step to making an established Australian brand truly accessible to Australians across the country.
Driza-Bone men’s wear is available in Victoria at all David Jones and Henry Bucks stores, and Myer stores in regional areas, Knox City, Frankston, and Eastland. Driza-Bone women’s coats and jackets are available at David Jones, Myer and Eco D stores.
