quality yet had never laid eyes on one.

Authentic Rugged Style 02

Timeless, rugged style, designed for function pure and
simple: It’s these inherent qualities which, like the
coat, have transcended time and remain at the core of
Driza-Bone today. No gadgets, tricks or gimmicks, it’s
just what we are ... We can’t help it. It’s in our
DNA. Every piece we make comes down to our solid
foundations. If it doesn’t, then we would end up just like
everyone else and what would be the point? Quality
craftsmanship and techniques with the best fabrics and yarns
goes into every item in our range, whether it’s a jacket,
vest, knit, pant or shirt. Each has a true function and
purpose - our heritage, our authenticity. And that’s our
style, our rugged style.

Authentic Rugged Style 01
Words: Sherron Anderson Posted: 8 June, 2011
Since the first Driza-Bone coat was fashioned out of old
torn windjammer sails, it has been synonymous with function
and performance. Born in an era where fashion and fads had
no use and what mattered most was purpose and reliability.
It is this simplicity and authenticity in conception which
in turn has become a unique and timeless style of its own,
void of trend. Our favourite old coat ... Muddied, worn,
roughed up and much loved. Full of history, memories and
rustic charm. There’s nothing else like a Driza-Bone coat
with a tale to tell - with layers of history and storiesin
grained into the weave and proudly displaying the battles
and scars of times past, but still working and functioning
despite the years, despite the wear.

Still Life
Words: Stephen Bennett Posted: 8 June, 2011
Knowing the history of Driza-Bone coats and its famous
oilskin fabric, I was fascinated to find the images of the
fabric and outerwear in this magnificent book Still Life.
Still Life is a collection of incredible photos taken from
the inside of the base hut used by Scott and Shackleton in
their exploration of the Antarctic in the early 1900s. The
photos capture the raw beauty of the scenery along with the
materials and textures that have remained virtually
untouched for a century.
